The Powerful World of Medicinal Mushrooms

Medical Mushrooms

Often induced via a powder form or liquid drops – these medicinal mushrooms, don’t quite taste like mushrooms.

Grown predominately in the wild of China or Serbia (Chaga), these exotic mushrooms are much more powerful than the ordinary vegetable. Traditionally used as adaptogens with mind blowing benefits such as, possibly healing cells and having anti-cancer properties! I personally, have a few favourites, which I would love to share with you, the benefits of introducing these into your diet:

Lions Mane:

Lion’s mane mushroom is also a powerful nootropic (aka smart drug) that has tons of science-backed benefits. Animal studies show that lion’s mane mushroom extract may actually support brain health by stimulating the creation of two important compounds: nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).[1][2]

In 2008, a double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled trial found that lion’s mane effectively improved cognitive function in a randomized group of 15 older adults.[3] Rodent studies found that lion’s mane potentially may have protective effects on brain cells, improve memory and promote the creation of new neurons.

Chaga:

The King of Mushrooms & the King of Immunity Support 💪🏽 ⠀
A potent anti-oxidant, rich in Melanin and a powerful anti inflammatory, Chaga has been traditionally used for centuries! An Adaptogen which can be easily implemented into your diet – a perfect coffee replacer or just add to your morning coffee to reap it’s many benefits! ☕ ⠀
The Khanty people of Western Siberia, used Chaga ⠀
“for general well-being, internal cleaning and curing & preventing disease in general, but in particular for liver problems, heart problems, tuberculosis and to get rid of parasitic worms” (Oriveda, 2016) ⠀

Evolution botanicals is one of our top choices as they provide a high potency of these adaptogens, & they are certified organic + wild harvested 🙌🏼 Which is very important to ensure the quality of these tonics. ⠀

Reishi:

These “mushrooms of immortality” are found growing on plum trees in the wild and were originally reserved for use only by royals. The reishi mushroom has not only been shown to prevent the development of cancer, but research has indicated that the reishi mushroom may also eliminate existing cancer cells in the body. In 2010, Pharmacological Reports published a study that highlighted the role of ganoderic acid, a triterpinoid found in the reishi mushroom, in the inhibition of the development and metastasis of tumors.

Want to increase your longevity? Reishi mushrooms may help with that. In 2009, a lab-based study published in Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry concluded that the polysaccharides, or long chains of carbohydrates, found in the reishi mushroom had life-span-extending properties.

HOW TO USE MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS:

My favourite way (& most popular) is to add the powder form/ liquid drops into your coffee! Or other drink in the morning for optimum performance. Try my Cold Brew Adaptogens Recipe HERE

You can prepare and cook lion’s mane mushroom like any other meaty mushroom. It tends to be in season in the late summer through fall.

As with any supplement, you get the most benefits when you take these adaptogenics consistently, and dietary supplements are generally more convenient.
